The 1st Dimension of Precision Field Rifle consists of 24 hours of training included in 2 evenings (8 hours), 2 weekend days (8 hours each Saturday and Sunday). This course introduces students to basic precision field rifle sniper craft elements and marksmanship. Subject areas covered include basic handling and fundamental marksmanship skills with the Precision Field Rifle as a Hunter/Sniper lethal tool. Course study includes SWS (Sniper Weapon System) Weapon Familiarization, Ammunition Types and Exterior Ballistics Performance, Element Effects on Bullet Track, Come-up Charts, Wind Compensation, Distance Judgment, Relative Field Accuracy, Point-of-Aim/Point-of-Impact, Slope Dope, One-Shot and Group Sight-in, Various Shooting Records and Field Charts, Fundamentals of Rifle Marksmanship, Shooting Positions, Special Weapon Equipment, Optical Sight Operation, Weapon Cleaning and Maintenance, Long Range Shooting (up to 600 yards), and More. The first evening (4 hours) is classroom, second evening (4 hours) is basic zero and rifle familiarization and marksmanship at the Ben Avery Range Facility. This is followed by two days in the filed at undisclosed locations in the terrain of the desert mountain wilderness of the Bradshaw and Black Mountains.
